SIMPLIFY YOUR WEDDING VENDOR SEARCH AND IMPROVE THE OUTCOME OF YOUR “ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT”
RECOMMENDATIONS (From professionals and past customers):
If you have selected your wedding venue, ask for a preferred vendors list and try to work with those vendors first. This is the best recommendation you can receive, and it also makes it easier to work with a vendor that is known at the location you will have your event AND that the vendor also is familiar with that facility. Everything works so much smoother.
If a preferred wedding vendors list is provided to you, take advantage of it. Most people will not write a vendors name if they have not worked with them in the past and/or have they have heard very good things about their services.
Ask for references from the wedding vendor. (Although these may not be as beneficial since the vendor will provide you with the most satisfied customers they have ever serviced).
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Experience is very important. There are many things that a vendor can learn that only come with time. Some unforeseen circumstances may occur along a vendor’s professional lifetime, they will learn from it and make sure that it does not happen again. The more years of experience, the more fail-safe their services will be.
More experience does not necessarily mean that the vendor is better, but it is a good measuring tool.
QUALITY:
For some services, quality may be visible (photography, Video, Cake etc.) for others will have to relate on experience, recommendations etc. (These services are: Wedding planners, Oficiants, DJ’s, etc.)
PROFESSIONAL REPUTATION:
Ask other wedding professionals in the local market what they have heard about the vendor you are looking to hire. You may want to, but not necessarily, contact vendors that are competitors because you may not know if the recommendation is biased.
A good source is the wedding venues’
PERSONALITY:
This is not the most important thing to look for, BUT it is important that you feel comfortable with all the people that you will hire. Remember also that most vendors will say what you want to hear and how you want to hear it to get your business… but look for sincere and genuine interest in your special day and someone that will work with you to make the outcome be what you want them to provide NOT what they want to provide you.
Their personality, enthusiasm and passion for what they do will also determine if this vendor is simply fulfilling a job description or if they will put their soul into providing an above and beyond service.
